Dansville Woman Arrested for Methamphetamine Sales

On October 9th, 2024, Terrie Rumsey, a 40-year-old resident of Dansville, NY, was arrested by the Livingston County Drug Task Force. The arrest took place following an investigation into methamphetamine sales in the Town of North Dansville.
Rumsey faces charges of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, both classified as class B felonies. After the arrest, she was taken to the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. Although her offenses met the criteria for pre-arraignment detention under the New York State Justice Reform Act, a Judge cannot set bail in these cases, and she was subsequently released.
She was arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) before Justice Werth. At that hearing, she was released on her own recognizance. Rumsey is expected to attend a future court date in the Town of North Dansville for additional proceedings.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Rumsey during the arraignment, while the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office represented the prosecution.
