Geneva City Schools in Geneva, N.Y., said recent news involving the district has raised understandable questions in the community.
Superintendent Bo Wright addressed these matters and outlined the district’s response and next steps.

Hobart and William Smith Colleges student wins $10,000 pitch contest
David Charles II, known as Duke, a Hobart and William Smith Colleges student in the class of 2027, won the Todd Feldman ’89 and Family Pitch Contest and a $10,000 prize for his startup The Wave, an app connecting shoppers with emerging streetwear brands focused on ethical and sustainable production, after finalists Nicholas Jones, Virginia Ritchay and Tru Styles delivered pitches before a standing-room-only crowd with alumni judges Sabrina McKee Budd, Alan Worden and Chris Zoladz in attendance on March 5, 2026.

Dove Block Project hosts two-artist exhibit in Geneva, N.Y.
Geneva, N.Y. — The Dove Block Project will host an exhibition featuring Robin B. L. McCondichie and Jean K Stephens, exploring interconnectedness and inner worlds through soft pastel and mixed-media collage, with a March 6 opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. and the show running through March 29, supported by Billsboro Winery, Black Crow Bakery and Lake Drum Brewing, and featuring Dr. Erik Gibelyou on guitar.

Cayuga County Hosts ALERRT Training for First Responders
Cayuga County, N.Y. — The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office hosted a week-long Advanced Active-Attack Integrated Response train-the-trainer program using ALERRT to prepare first responders, drawing participation from multiple fire departments, EMS providers and police agencies, with the Port Byron School District allowing use of its facility and Day 4 featuring a large scenario.
